Chemist User Research
To discover the problem of manual patent searching, we had to talk to real chemists. Through campus and network conversations, we learned how patent lawyers are paid to scour patents manually, costing $100,000s and taking months.

Building Lattice
Lattice was built in 2 weeks, both the multi-page dashboard interface and backend, with incredible effort from my developers Evan Adami and Shruti Nadala. We progress through many stages of functional iteration with constant feedback from industry professionals and potential users.

Early User Onboarding
To truly validate Lattice, we sent our working prototype to several design partners to use our software for their commercial projects. We quickly confirmed the value Lattice added to the patent process, and received great feedback from the professionals we worked with.

Lavalab Pitch
After a few weeks of working on Lattice, we pitched at Lavalab Demo Night, the main event of USC's premiere startup incubator. By clearly communicating the product validity and size of the space, as well as sharing our industry partners, we were award "Best Product," winning the competition.
